Graduate safety Lathan Ransom is headed to the Senior Bowl.
Ransom accepted his invite to the Senior Bowl on Monday and joins teammates like quarterback Will Howard and center Seth McLaughlin who have also accepted invites. Since accepting his invite, McLaughlin tore his Achilles in late November, so he will not play in the game, but Ransom and Howard should both get chances on the field.
The 2025 Senior Bowl game will be played on Feb. 1 in Mobile, Ala. and will present Ransom an opportunity to bolster his NFL draft stock against some of the other best seniors in college football.
Ransom earned his spot in the senior bowl with an exceptional season in 2024. In 11 regular season games, he recorded 57 total tackles, which included six tackles for loss, he forced three fumbles, and grabbed an interception. Ransom’s spectacular regular season garnered him First-Team All-Big Ten recognition for the first time in his career.
Ransom continued his high level of play into the postseason, recording five tackles, including one tackle for loss and a pass deflection in Ohio State’s 42-17 win over Tennessee in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Dec. 21.
Before he shows off his skills to NFL scouts at the Senior Bowl, Ransom will hope to help the Buckeyes continue their run in the playoffs. Ransom will have to be at his best in coverage in Ohio State’s quarterfinal matchup against No. 1 Oregon and its high-flying offense in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1.
