Men’s Basketball: Ohio State Finalizes Non-Conference Schedule, Season Ticket Plans
Ohio State men’s basketball released its non-conference schedule for the 2022-23 season, which will feature a trip to the Maui Invitational, a rematch with Duke and a face-off with North Carolina at the CBS Sports Classic.
The Buckeyes return Justice Sueing, Seth Towns, Zed Key and Eugene Brown III will be lifted by veteran transfers Tanner Holden of Wright State, Sean McNeil of West Virginia and Isaac Likekele of Oklahoma State. Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann and his staff will also welcome the No. 6 recruiting class for 2022, including Brice Sensabaugh, Roddy Gayle Jr., Bruce Thorton, Felix Okpara and Bowen Hardman.
Holtmann’s squad will start their season with an exhibition game against Chaminade, a Division II school that hosts the Maui Invitational, on Nov. 1. Ohio State will then battle Robert Morris (Nov. 7), Charleston Southern (Nov. 10) and Eastern Illinois (Nov. 16) before they travel to Hawaii. The Maui Invitational (Nov. 21-23) features a strong field this season, with programs like Arizona, Arkansas, Creighton, San Diego State and Texas Tech — all teams that made last year’s NCAA Tournament.
One week after returning to Columbus, the Buckeyes will head to Cameron Indoor to take on Duke in the 2022 ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Nov. 30. The non-conference slate closes with matchups against Pennsylvania’s St. Francis (Dec. 3), the CBS Sports Classic against UNC (Dec. 17), Maine (Dec. 21) and Alabama A&M (Dec. 29).
The Big Ten recently announced the single and double-play opponents for the 2022-23 season. Ohio State will host Illinois, Purdue, Maryland, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Penn State and Wisconsin. The dates of the home and away conference games will be announced later this summer, according to program press release. Game times at TV assignments will be announced in the fall.
