Roddy Gayle Jr., a four-star shooting guard, announced his commitment to Ohio State.
Hailing from Youngstown (N.Y.) Lewiston Porter Senior, Gayle is the No. 7 shooting guard and No. 76 overall prospect in the 2022 class. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound guard is the No. 1 recruit in the state of New York.
The top six schools for Gayle were Georgetown, Marquette, Pitt, Syracuse, and UConn, along with Ohio State. He also held offers from Alabama, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Wake Forest, and Xavier, among others.
Becoming the second member of the Buckeyes’ 2022 class, Gayle joins Cincinnati Princeton three-star guard Bowen Hardman. Ohio State assistant coach Jake Diebler was Gayle’s primary recruiter.
Gayle, who is 247Sports’ No. 54 overall recruit, picked up steam toward Columbus on Nov. 9, when five crystal ball predictions came in for Ohio State from 247Sports.
The standout guard from New York is expected to be a bright spot in the future of Buckeye basketball. Some of his highlights will be posted below:
