Five-Star Quarterback Dylan Raiola Decommits From Ohio State
The unanimous No. 1 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, the centerpiece of Ohio State’s junior haul to date, decommitted from the Buckeyes on Saturday as five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola out of Chandler High School in Chandler, Ariz., let the Buckeyes’ staff know of his intention to look elsewhere.
The 6-3, 220-pound signal caller committed to the Buckeyes in May, giving them the No. 1 quarterback in the 2024 class. In 12 games for Chandler this season he completed 64 percent of his throws for 2,435 yards, 22 touchdowns and just five interceptions.
He’s said several times that he was locked into his commitment to Ohio State and was hoping to be a peer recruiter for the Buckeyes, but Ohio State will now have to look elsewhere for a quarterback in the class of 2024.
Raiola’s decommitment comes just days after Ohio State added Opa Locka (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (6-3, 185), briefly giving the Buckeyes the top quarterback and receiver in the 2024 class.
