The Ohio State basketball team on Monday afternoon officially announced its non-conference schedule for the 2019-20 season.
The Buckeyes open their difficult slate against Cincinnati at Value City Arena on Nov. 6, the second game of a home-and-home series that began one year ago (a 64-56 Ohio State win).
“As I’ve said, this is an exciting non-conference schedule and certainly the most challenging we’ve been a part of,” said head coach Holtmann, who enters his third season at the helm of the Buckeyes. “We have a variety of outstanding teams and programs we will be competing against here in Columbus, on the road and in our neutral-site games. When you combine it with two December Big Ten opponents as part of our 20-game schedule, in a league that I believe will be the deepest in the country again, the schedule provides some outstanding early games for our fans. We look forward to growing as a team through the demands of this schedule.”
Ohio State also hosts Villanova as part of The Gavitt Games — a matchup between the Big Ten and Big East — on Nov. 13. The Buckeyes then travel to North Carolina for the annual ACC-Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 4 and Las Vegas to take on Kentucky in the the CBS Sports Challenge on Dec. 21.
Ohio State will return to historic St. John Arena for its second game in as many years as it hosts Kent State on Nov. 24. That game is part of the Ohio State Classic, a multi-team event that includes matchups with Purdue Fort Wayne and Stetson.
The Buckeyes will begin Big Ten Conference play in early December, though the complete schedule — which includes 10 home and 10 road games — will be announced at a later date.
