Ohio State has named three Players of The Game for its 63-10 trouncing over Western Kentucky on Saturday, recognizing running back TreVeyon Henderson on offense, Denzel Burke on defense and defensive end Caden Curry on special teams.
Henderson put forth another productive performance in the Buckeyes’ backfield, logging a team-high 13 carries, 88 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the day, along with a 27-yard reception. The junior running back also etched his name in the Ohio State history books on his final carry midway through the third quarter, becoming just the 28th player in program history to reach the 2,000-yard rushing plateau.
Burke earns Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive game after he played a large role in limiting quarterback Austin Reed and the Hilltoppers’ high-flying offense to just 204 total passing yards and 10 points. The junior cornerback continued to show signs of returning to his All-American and ball-hawking form, recording two pass breakups along with a forced fumble that led to a Tyliek Williams defensive touchdown.
Curry, who logged 218 snaps on special teams as a true freshman last season, continued to be a mainstay on Parker Fleming’s unit against the Hilltoppers. His efforts may not have been reflected in the stat sheets, but he did record a tackle late in the third quarter, corralling Reed for a two-yard loss on fourth-and-1 to force a turnover on downs.
