Ohio State Athletes Among Spring Graduates

During two rain-soaked spring commencement ceremonies Sunday, Ohio State honored 12,345 degree recipients, including 172 Buckeye athletes.

Headlining that list was former Ohio State defensive back and 2014 Denver Broncos first-round draft pick Bradley Roby. Now with the Houston Texans, Roby’s degree is in communications.

Roby was one of ten current or former OSU football players receiving a degree. In addition, Roby was among the beneficiaries of a program that has helped 220 former student-athletes to graduate.

Also part of the athletics’ degree completion program this year: Ohio State Hall of Famer Mike Durant (baseball letterwinner from 1989-91 and Minnesota Twins draft pick) and hockey players Jincy Dunne (two-time WCHA Defensive Player of the Year) and Tanner Fritz (currently playing for the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers).

Among the current Ohio State athletes to graduate was sport industry major Demario McCall.

JPMorgan Chase chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon was the commencement speaker and addressed the audience virtually.
