Ohio State Commit And Four-Star Tight End Damarion Witten Wins U.S. Army Bowl MVP
Ohio State 2024 commit and Cleveland Glenville four-star tight end Damarion Witten (6-4, 215) flashed his talents at Monday night’s U.S. Army Bowl held at The Star in Frisco, Texas, taking home the game’s Most Valuable Player award after hauling in four catches for 96 yards and three touchdowns.
Witten, who is expected to officially sign with Ohio State on Wednesday when the early signing period opens, won the award despite his Black team losing to the Gold team 62-37. Also participating in the All-American high school showcase were Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward offensive linemen and Ohio State commits Deontae and Devontae Armstrong, who also suited up for the Black team in the loss.
Witten’s Army Bowl performance capped off a successful senior season for the Cleveland native, who also helped lead his team to their second straight OHSAA Division IV state title this fall by catching touchdown passes of 38 and 17 yards in their 38-3 state championship game victory over Kettering Alter on Dec. 2. The tight end’s efforts this season helped him to be tabbed as the 28th-best tight end in the nation and No. 18 overall player in Ohio.
Witten is expected to become an early enrollee at Ohio State and join the program in the summer, where he will begin competing for some playing time in 2024 fellow incoming freshman and Chattanooga (Tenn.) four-star tight end Max LeBlanc (6-4, 222) and returning Buckeyes Patrick Gurd and Jelani Thurman.
