Ohio State redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. announced Saturday that he will forgo the remainder of his eligibility and enter his name into the 2024 NFL draft after three seasons with the Buckeyes.
Hall was a four-star prospect in 2021 out of Streetsboro, Ohio, and took a redshirt in his first season at Ohio State. He had a breakout season in 2022, finishing with 4.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss and earning third-team All-Big Ten honors, but registered just half a tackle for loss this season.
With the loss of Hall the Buckeyes will look to Ty Hamilton and potentially Tyleik Williams to fill the void at defensive tackle next season, though Williams is considered a candidate to also enter his name into the NFL draft. The Buckeyes could also look at an expanded role for Hero Kanu, Tywone Malone and Kayden McDonald.
Hall is the second Buckeye to declare for the draft, joining running back Miyan Williams, though they are expected to be joined by wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., while several other players – including running back TreVeyon Henderson, defensive linemen Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and cornerback Denzel Burke, among others – still have decisions to make.
