Ohio State added a commitment on Friday from Stafford (Va.) Mountain View three-star defensive lineman Eric Mensah (6-3, 290), flipping him from Virginia Tech.
Mensah is the No. 802 overall prospect and No. 53 defensive end in 2024, and he had been committed to Virginia Tech since July. During his junior season at Mountain View, Mensah accounted for eight sacks and three forced fumbles.
His recruitment by Ohio State developed rapidly, with the three-star prospect taking an official visit last weekend ahead of his eventual flip to the Buckeyes, though he did camp with Ohio State over the summer.
He is now the third defensive line commitment for Ohio State’s class, joining Buford, Ga., five-star Eddrick Houston (6-3, 265) and Chicago St. Ignatius five-star Justin Scott (6-4, 310). The Buckeyes also continue to pursue Tampa (Fla.) Wharton four-star Booker Pickett Jr. (6-3, 205) and Towson (Md.) Concordia Prep four-star Ernest Willor Jr. (6-4, 250).
