Ohio State sophomore forward Cotie McMahon led Team USA to a gold medal at the FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup over the weekend, hitting a game-winner on Sunday to give the United States a 69-66 win over Spain in the finals.
McMahon finished the contest with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists on 75.0 percent shooting, and went 4 of 5 at the free-throw line. For the entire tournament, McMahon averaged 8.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists across seven games.
The reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year helped lead the United States to the program’s third consecutive FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup title and 10th overall, with the United States taking nine out of the last 10 events. McMahon was also on last year’s squad, becoming a two-time medal winner.
