Ohio State sophomore forward E.J. Liddell has been named to the midseason team for the Naismith Trophy Men’s Player of the Year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Thursday.
“E.J. has earned this prestigious recognition and I am really happy for him,” head coach Chris Holtmann said in a statement. “He is a gifted player and his growth has been impressive. E.J. has been a joy to coach. He understands there is much work ahead of us this season and I know he is committed to working toward daily improvement.”
A native of Belleville, Illinois, Lidell leads the Buckeyes with 14.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
Ohio State is 16-4 overall and 10-4 in the Big Ten this season. The Buckeyes are back in action on Saturday against Indiana, with tip off at Value City Arena set for 12 p.m. on ESPN.
