With the early signing period all but finished, Ohio State has fallen from the top of the 247Sports 2025 team rankings to the No. 5 spot after signing 26 commits.
The biggest loss that took the Buckeyes down so far was losing vie-star cornerback Na’eem Offord, who flipped to Oregon on Dec. 4, helping the Ducks jump Ohio State in the rankings up to No. 3 in the country.
Texas holds the No. 1 spot, followed by No. 2 Alabama, Oregon and No. 4 Georgia.
The top-rated recruits in the Buckeyes 2025 class according to 247Sports composite rankings are five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez (No. 6-ranked in the country), five-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair (No. 7) and four-star linebacker Riley Pettijohn (No. 41), with a total of seven players ranked in the top 100,, four-star linebacker Tarvos Alford just missing the cut (No. 103).
The Buckeyes class was helped out during the early signing period by four-star running back Anthony Rogers and four-star defensive end Epi Sitanilei, both of whom flipped to the Buckeyes.
OSU was also able to hold onto Alford, four-star defensive end Zion Grady and four-star wide receiver Quincy Porter, each of whom were exploring their options almost up until they signed with Ohio State.
Barring any major changes that might happen before signing day in February, this will be the second straight year that Ohio State finishes with the No. 5 overall class and the sixth-straight year that it finishes with a top-five class.
