Ohio State Linebacker Keandre Jones Transfers To Maryland
Not long before National Signing Day in 2016, Keandre Jones was committed to Maryland.
The linebacker ended up signing with Ohio State, but he’s set to spend the end of his career back with the Terrapins. After Jones entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal earlier this month, an Ohio State spokesman confirmed Tuesday morning that the linebacker was leaving the program. A report from InsideMDSPorts on Tuesday said Jones had enrolled in classes in College Park.
Jones, from Olney (Md.) Good Counsel, was a four-star recruit in the 2016 class who flipped to Ohio State late in the process, along with fellow Maryland native Dwayne Haskins, who was a four-star quarterback and starred for the Buckeyes this past season. Jones never won a starting spot in Columbus, but he was a respected leader and key special teams player throughout his career with the Buckeyes.
The linebacker played in 32 career games for the Buckeyes, recording 29 total tackles in the process. He blocked a punt against Nebraska this season and chased it out of the end zone for a key safety in a 36-31 Ohio State victory.
