Ohio State’s Week 6 home matchup against Maryland on Oct. 7 has been set for a noon kickoff, with the game slated to air on FOX.
The announcement comes after initial reports suggested the game, which comes after Ohio State’s Week 5 bye week, would be exclusively broadcast through Peacock at 3:30 p.m., a streaming service that is owned by NBC. The Big Ten Conference will stream eight football games this season on Peacock as part of a lucrative $7 billion media rights agreement with FOX, CBS and NBC that runs from 2023 to the 2029-30 season.
The Buckeyes’ matchup with the Terrapins is the third noon kickoff on the 2023 schedule, joining Ohio State’s 35-7 victory over Youngstown State on Sept. 9, which aired on Big Ten Network, and its Nov. 25 matchup with Michigan, which is slated to air on FOX’ “Big Noon Kickoff.” The game will also mark Ohio State’s 101st Homecoming game in program history, a tradition in which the Buckeyes own a 75-19-5 record in.
The Oct. 7 matchup will be just the ninth all-time meeting between Maryland and Ohio State and fifth at Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes own a 8-0 record in the series which started in 2014 and have scored 40 or more points in every game, including last year’s 43-30 victory over the Terrapins on Nov. 19
