Basketball season is slowly starting to creep up with just over two months to go before Ohio State gets back on the hardwood in hopes of making another trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Part of the path that the Buckeyes will have to take to get there has been revealed, with the nonconference slate being made official by Ohio State on Wednesday.
After exhibition games against Cincinnati on Oct. 7 and Butler on Oct. 25, Ohio State will head to Salt Lake City to match up against BYU in a game that will be considered to be a neutral-site contest.
The Buckeyes then face off against in-state opponent Youngstown State on Nov. 6 at home before hosting Marshall on Nov. 9.
Another tough game will be up next for Ohio State when it goes on the road to play against UConn for the first half of a home-and-home series that will be finished next season when OSU hosts the Huskies.
After that, the Buckeyes are back at the Schottenstein Center for four straight games, hosting Prairie View A&M on Nov. 16, UMBC on Nov. 19, Vanderbilt on Nov. 24 and Lipscomb on Nov. 29.
Ohio State goes on the road on Dec. 12 to finish the back half of a home-and-home series against Notre Dame, the first half of which Ohio State won last season.
Then, the Buckeyes return home again to take on Stony Brook on Dec. 15 before heading to Madison Square Garden in New York for the CBS Sports Classic on Dec. 19, where they take on Kansas.
The nonconference slate ends on Dec. 22 when Mississippi Valley State heads to Columbus.
Ohio State’s Big Ten opponents have already been revealed, but the dates of conference games have not yet been settled.
