The Ohio State men’s basketball team moved up four spots to No. 6 in the AP poll following wins against Kent State, 71-52, and Morgan State, 90-57.
While the Ohio State football team was preparing to dominate Michigan, 56-27, on the gridiron, the Wolverine basketball team was wrecking the Battle 4 Atlantis tourney in the Bahamas.
Michigan made the biggest jump in poll history, tying Kansas in 1989, receiving the No. 4 spot along with nine first-place votes.
Louisville became the fourth different team in five weeks to receive the No. 1 ranking, with 48 of 65 first-place votes, after previous No. 1 Duke lost to Stephen F. Austin. No. 2 Kansas received three first-place votes and No. 5 Virginia had five.
The No. 6 Buckeyes have a matchup with No. 7 North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
Among other future Ohio State opponents, Maryland rose to No. 3, while Kentucky is No. 8 and Michigan State is No. 11. The other teams on the Buckeyes’ schedule who received votes are West Virginia (28), Purdue (24), Indiana (13) and Penn State (9).
The only ranked team the Buckeyes have beaten is No. 23 Villanova.
