Ohio State was able to overcome its rivalry loss and handle Tennessee in the first round of the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes move on to the quarterfinals of the new 12-team playoff and will match up against No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
Even though the two teams have already played this season, a game that ended with the Ducks on top 32-31 on Oct. 12, Ohio State is favored to win when they have a rematch in Pasadena.
As of Monday, the Buckeyes are 2.5-point favorites in the game and currently have the second-best odds in the field of 8 to win the national championship, just behind Texas.
Sportsbooks are also thinking the game will be the highest scoring of the four quarterfinals matchups, with the over/under set at 54.5 points.
Whatever the Buckeyes put on the field on Dec. 21 against Tennessee was obviously enough to take away any doubt that they are still one of the best teams in the country, but they are going to need to have another performance like that if they’re going to have a chance against the undefeated Ducks.
