Ohio State OT Max Wray Enters Transfer Portal
BSB has confirmed that Ohio State fourth-year offensive tackle Max Wray has entered the transfer portal and will be playing out his college eligibility elsewhere, according to multiple reports.
The Franklin, TN., native came to Ohio State as a four-star prospect ranked as the No. 121 player in his class, but only played sparingly for the Buckeyes during his first three seasons in Columbus. He was almost exclusively a practice squad member in his first two years, but found playing time in 2020 as a reserve tackle, most notably filling in for the Buckeyes against Michigan State when starters Thayer Munford and Nicholas Petit-Frere tested positive for the coronavirus.
Ohio State had a great day on the ground against the Spartans, churning out 322 yards behind a patchwork offensive line led by Wray. He earned praise from both his head coach and his quarterback after the game.
“Watching it from the way I watched it, I thought they battled,” head coach Ryan Day said at the time. “Was it perfect? I’m sure it wasn’t perfect. But they battled.”
Justin Fields echoed those sentiments.
“I think those guys played a great game for it being their first game,” Fields said, “so I’m just proud of those guys and proud of the way they stepped up.”
Wray has yet to announce his next school, but does have a few connections across the country. He had offers from just about every top school coming out of high school, and his brother Jake plays on the offensive line at Colorado.
