Ohio State redshirt sophomore wide receiver Kyion Grayes has reportedly entered his name into the transfer portal after two seasons with the Buckeyes.
Grayes, a former four-star recruit out of Chandler, Ariz., appeared in just two games with the Buckeyes and had one reception, all of which occurred during his freshman season while he took a redshirt. But he did not see the field last season while recovering from an injury that caused him to use a walking boot for most of the season.
Despite two catches in the spring game, even a rotational role seemed unlikely for Grayes this season with Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate, Brandon Inniss and Jayden Ballard among the contributors returning for Ohio State. Furthermore, freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith already appears to have leaped several in the room during his first spring with the Buckeyes.
Redshirt sophomore Kojo Antwi is the only receiver remaining at Ohio State from the 2022 recruiting class that also included Grayes, Kaleb Brown and Caleb Burton, with Brown and Burton transferring to Iowa and Auburn, respectively, last offseason.
Grayes is the sixth portal entry for Ohio State this spring, joining linebacker Nigel Glover, safeties Ja’Had Carter and Cedrick Hawkins, running back Dallan Hayden and offensive lineman Enokk Vimahi. The spring transfer window for players to submit their names into the portal ends on Tuesday.
