Ohio State Running Back Chip Trayanum Enters Transfer Portal After Two Seasons With Buckeyes

Ohio State senior running back Chip Trayanum entered the transfer portal on Wednesday after two seasons with the Buckeyes, according to multiple reports.

Trayanum has one season of eligibility remaining. He transferred to Ohio State ahead of last season from Arizona State, where he played at running back for the Sun Devils. He initially planned to play linebacker with the Buckeyes, but injuries at running back forced him to switch back to the offense, where he has remained since.

In his two seasons with the Buckeyes, Trayanum rushed 100 times for 465 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner for Ohio State in the team’s 17-14 win at Notre Dame earlier this season.

He followed it up with 20 carries for 16 yards and a score against Maryland the next week but playing sparingly down the stretch after usual start TreVeyon Henderson returned from injury midway through the season. He finished the season with 85 rushes for 373 yards and three touchdowns.

Trayanum’s departure – the 13th for the Buckeyes in the transfer portal – leaves Ohio State with questions at running back for the Cotton Bowl and entering the next season. Miyan Williams has already declared his intention to enter the NFL Draft, while Evan Pryor has joined Trayanum in entering the portal. The Buckeyes still await a decision for Henderson regarding the draft, which could leave Dallan Hayden as the only scholarship running back returning next season.
