Ohio State redshirt freshman safety Cedrick Hawkins is the first Buckeye to enter the transfer portal this spring after the window opened today.
Hawkins redshirted as a freshman last year, not getting any playing time, and in the spring game on April 13 he had five tackles.
Hawkins came to Ohio State last summer as a four-star prospect from Cocoa High School in Titusville, Fla. He was ranked the 357th recruit in the country by 247Sports composite ranking and the 35th best safety in the country. He was blocked in a deep secondary that looks like it could be one of the best in the country in the 2024-25 season.
He’s the first to enter to portal for the Buckeyes, but running back Dallan Hayden also intends to enter the portal, which is open until April 30.
