Ohio State Safety Lathan Ransom Does Not Travel To Rutgers, Will Not Play Against Scarlet Knights
Ohio State will be without starting safety Lathan Ransom against Rutgers on Saturday, as head coach Ryan Day said Friday that he did not make the trip to Piscataway, N.J., after suffering a non-contact injury in last week’s win at Wisconsin.
Ransom’s injury happened in the fourth quarter against Wisconsin, causing him to limp off the field before being carted back to the locker room, though he eventually returned to the sideline. Day has not provided an update on when Ransom may be able to return for the Buckeyes.
With Ransom sidelined, Ohio State is expected to start Sonny Styles at bandit/strong safety, and have cornerback Jordan Hancock start at nickel, with Josh Proctor continuing to start at free safety.
While Ransom did not make the trip, Ohio State is expecting to return wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who has missed the last three games, and no other Buckeyes are believed to be dealing with any significant injuries.
