Following a career-high 13 tackles in Ohio State’s 17-14 win over Notre Dame, safety Lathan Ransom was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.
Of Ransom’s 13 tackles, seven were solo, and he was also in on a significant fourth-down stop of Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman, and also accounted for a quarterback hurry. This is the first Defensive Player of the Week accolade for Ransom.
Through four games this season, Ransom is fifth on the team with 20 tackles, and also has half a tackle for loss in addition to a forced fumble.
Ohio State’s last Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week was defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau, who won the award after a dominant outing against Penn State last season.
