According to a report from On3’s Matt Zenitz, Ohio State sophomore wide receiver Kaleb Brown has entered his name into the transfer portal after just one season with the program.
Brown was a four-star prospect out of Chicago St. Rita and was the highest-rated of Ohio State’s four wide receiver signees in the 2022 recruiting class. He was ranked as the No. 79 overall prospect and No. 13 wide receiver in his class. He appeared in four games last season for Ohio State and caught one reception for five yards
Brown is the second from his class to hit the transfer portal, joining fellow second-year wideout Caleb Burton, who entered the portal last week. With a significant logjam at receiver – and that was before Ohio State’s current crop of early enrollees arrived, as well Brandon Inniss joining over the summer – a path to the field was unlikely this season for Brown with Emeka Egbuka and Xavier Johnson bringing returning experience to the slot.
Other Buckeyes to hit the portal in recent weeks include kicker Jake Seibert and offensive lineman Ben Christman. Those departures make room for several transfer additions, including cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr. and offensive tackle Josh Simmons, who both announced their commitment to Ohio State over the weekend.
