Head coach Ryan Day did not provide any updates on injuries for the Buckeyes when asked last Wednesday during an offseason press conference at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
When reached Thursday by BSB, a team spokesperson said there was “nothing” more Ohio State could add to Smith’s tweet.
The 6-4, 267-pounder appeared to practice without limitations throughout OSU’s spring camp in March and April.
He played 13 of Ohio State’s 14 games in 2018, recording nine tackles and cracking the team’s deep defensive line rotation.
His freshman season served as the foundation for potentially breaking out in the 2019 campaign, projecting to be a co-starting defensive end for the Buckeyes with junior Chase Young (6-5, 265).
“My expectations? Just to be the best I can for my team, to help the unit out as much as I can,” Smith said March 29 after OSU’s eighth practice of spring camp. “I’m trying to be noticed as one of the best D-linemen in the country. That’s my goal, and just do anything to help the unit be better.”
