Ohio State To Be Represented At Big Ten Media Days By Denzel Burke, Emeka Egbuka, Jack Sawyer
When Ohio State has its day at Big Ten media days on Tuesday, July 23, the Buckeyes will be represented by seniors cornerback Denzel Burke, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and defensive end Jack Sawyer along with head coach Ryan Day.
Media days have been extended to three days in Indianapolis this year because of the expanded Big Ten with four new teams joining the conference and it will take place from July 23-25.
Burke is going into his fourth season with the Buckeyes, breaking onto the scene his freshman season when he broke out and proving to be a top corner in the country last season on the No. 1 pass defense in the nation.
Egbuka had a down year last season for his standards due to an injury he suffered, catching 41 passes for 515 yards and four touchdowns. In his sophomore campaign, he had 74 catches for 1,151 yards and 10 touchdowns, and projects to be the No. 1 target for Buckeyes quarterbacks.
Sawyer had his best season at Ohio State last year with 45 total tackles, 8½ for a loss, five sacks, two passes defended and two forced fumbles. He’s up to 11 sacks in his Buckeye career and looks to increase that number in his senior season.
Burke, Egbuka and Sawyer could have each left for the NFL draft after last season but opted to stay with Ohio State for their fourth seasons, like many other players did as well, making them very fitting players to represent the team in Indianapolis.
Also on the first day of the conference media days are Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin. Day two will be Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State and newcomers UCLA and USC. On the third dayw ill be Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon and Washington.
Ohio State’s season is set to begin on Saturday, Aug. 31, against Akron at noon.
