Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was named an Associated Press first-team All-American on Monday, making him a consensus All-American for the Buckeyes. He was the only Buckeye on any of the Associated Press’ All-American teams.
Harrison has also been named a first-team All-American by The Athletic, CBS Sports, the Football Writers Association of America, Pro Football Focus and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. For Harrison to receive unanimous All-American honors, he will also need a first-team selection by the American Football Coaches Association and Sporting News, both expected to be announced this week.
It would add to an impressive list of accolades for Harrison, who became Ohio State’s first-ever unanimous All-American wide receiver last season. He finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting this season and also won the Biletnikoff Award, which is given to the top wide receiver in college football.
If he were named a unanimous All-American, he would be just the fifth in program history to earn the accolade twice, joining offensive tackle Orlando Pace (1995-96), running back Archie Griffin (1974-75), fullback Bob Ferguson (1960-61) and halfback Howard “Hopalong” Cassidy (1954-55).
