Ohio State Women’s Basketball Climbs Three Spots To No. 11 In Latest AP Poll
With two more ranked wins under its belt, Ohio State women’s basketball continued to move up in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, jumping three spots for the second straight week, this time to No. 11.
The move comes after wins against Maryland, 88-86, and Indiana, 78-70, both teams that remained ranked in this latest poll.
The Terrapins stayed as the top-ranked team in the Big Ten, falling three spots to No. 10, just above the Buckeyes, while the Hoosiers dropped one spot to No. 17.
Those two are part of a three-game winning streak for Ohio State, with each of those wins coming against ranked opponents. The first in that streak was against Michigan, who fell one spot to No. 13, but has not played a game since the loss to the Buckeyes due to a breakout of a new strain of COVID-19 within the university.
The last Big Ten team ranked in the AP poll was Northwestern, who rose one spot to No. 22. Ohio State takes on the Wildcats at 8 p.m. Monday in an attempt to make it four straight ranked wins, something that has never been done in program history.
With the men’s team also ranking seventh in the AP poll, Ohio State is one of two universities with both its men’s and women’s teams ranked in the top 12. The other is Baylor, who is ranked No. 2 and No. 8 in the men’s and women’s polls, respectively.
