Ohio State Women’s Basketball Sinks To No. 22 In AP Poll
Ohio State women’s basketball fell seven spots to No. 22 in the Associated Press top 25 poll after losses to Penn State and Indiana in the past week.
The Buckeyes, starting with a road loss to Michigan, have now lost three straight games and are 13-6 on the season with just one game to go: a Friday night road matchup against Rutgers.
The Big Ten has five teams ranked in the top 25, starting with Maryland at No. 8, followed by the Hoosiers who jumped up to No. 10 for the program’s first top 10 AP ranking in its history. Michigan stayed put at No. 12 and the Scarlet Knights moved up a spot to No. 24.
Only the SEC, who had six teams in the top 25 in Texas A&M (No. 2), South Carolina (No. 7), Arkansas (No. 13), Tennessee (No. 14), Georgia (No. 16) and Kentucky (No. 17) has more ranked teams than the Big Ten.
Iowa (six votes) and Northwestern (four votes) also received votes, but were outside the top 25 at No. 31 and 34, respectively. Florida Gulf Coast, led by former Ohio State guard Kierstan Bell, also received 22 votes and ranked 26th. The Eagles are 20-0 since Bell was named as eligible for this season.
