Ohio State women’s hockey will head outdoors for the second time in three seasons.
After the Buckeyes faced off with Wisconsin at Wrigley Field in 2025, Ohio State will take on the Badgers in the Travel Wisconsin Frozen Tundra Faceoff on Feb. 20, 2027, in an outdoor game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis.
Ohio State and Wisconsin have claimed the last seven national championships and clashed for each of the last four national championship games.
Under head coach Mark Johnson, the Badgers won back-to-back national titles in 2019 and 2021 (the NCAA tournament was not held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), then captured another championship in 2023 before going back-to-back again from 2025-26. The Buckeyes won in 2022 and 2024 under head coach Nadine Muzerall.
The two programs have also met 17 times over the past three years as the nation’s top two-ranked teams.
Ohio State and Wisconsin met six times during the 2025-26 season. The Badgers won the regular-season series 3-1, before the Buckeyes defeated Wisconsin 2-1 in the WCHA Final Faceoff. Wisconsin got the last laugh, however, beating Ohio State 3-2 in the national championship game.
The Frozen Tundra Faceoff will also include a men’s hockey game between Wisconsin and Michigan following the Buckeyes and Badgers matchup.
