Ohio State’s draftees and undrafted free agents are one step closer to their dreams of playing in the NFL, as those 10 former Buckeyes have received their jersey numbers ahead of their rookie seasons.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was taken with the second overall pick by the Houston Texans, will maintain the No. 7 that he wore during his time at Ohio State. Fellow first-round draftee Will Anderson Jr., who the Texans traded up and grabbed with the third pick, will wear No. 51.
Offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. will wear No. 70 with the Arizona Cardinals after being taken with the sixth pick, while wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, taken at No. 20 by the Seattle Seahawks, will again rep No. 11, his number with the Buckeyes.
Defensive end Zach Harrison, Ohio State’s lone defensive draftee, will wear No. 96 with the Atlanta Falcons. The Cleveland Browns, a team that is becoming a home away from home for former Buckeyes, will have offensive tackle Dawnad Jones wear No. 74, and center Luke Wypler will wear No. 56.
Safeties Ronnie Hickman and Tanner McCalister, signed by the Browns as undrafted free agents, will wear Nos. 33 and 48, respectively. Defensive tackle Jerron Cage, an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints, will wear No. 77. Cornerback Cameron Brown, who signed as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Chargers, has yet to receive his number.
