Ohio State’s Wyatt Davis, Shaun Wade Named First-Team All-Americans By Sporting News
Ohio State junior guard Wyatt Davis and junior cornerback Shaun Wade each earn another spot on a first-team All-American list, this time from the Sporting News.
Both Davis and Wade inch closer to being named consensus All-Americans after also earning the honor from the Associated Press. The other lists used for earning consensus and unanimous All-American status are from the American Football Coaches Association, the Football Writers Association of America and the Walter Camp Football Foundation, who have not yet released their lists.
Davis, a former five-star prospect from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco, has started 21 consecutive games for the Ohio State, who is averaging 275.7 yards per game on the ground this season. He was named the Big Ten’s offensive lineman of the year and helped Ohio State’s offensive line become a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award.
Wade, another former five-star prospect from Jacksonville Trinity Christian, has recorded 16 tackles, three pass breakups and two interceptions this season, including one that he returned for a touchdown against Indiana on Nov. 21.
Also earning honors from Sporting News was junior center Josh Myers and senior defensive tackle Haskell Garrett, who both landed on the second team. Though not considered part of the five to determine consensus status, Garrett was also named a first-team All-American by CBS Sports and Pro Football Focus.
