Ohio State had its second player enter the transfer portal in as many days on Sunday. Graduate tight end Patrick Gurd was the latest Buckeye to put his name into the portal according to reports.
Gurd has been with the Buckeyes since 2020 but only played in five games in his first three years combined in the program.
Gurd played in 13 games this year for the Buckeyes and even got in early in games as a run blocker in short-yardage or goal-line situations. Gurd wasn’t much of a threat in the passing game for the Buckeyes during his career though, he only hauled in two catches for 15 yards in 26 total games played.
Ohio State should be in decent shape at the tight end position for the 2025 season despite Gurd’s departure. The Buckeyes are likely to have senior tight end Will Kacmarek back for 2025 along with junior Bennett Christian and sophomore Jelani Thurman
