Penn State Quarterback Drew Allar Will Be Game Time Decision Saturday
Ohio State will play in its second top-five matchup of the season when it heads to Penn State on Saturday, and the Nittany Lions could have an important piece of their offense missing.
Quarterback Drew Allar was injured in their 28-13 win over Wisconsin on Oct. 26 and didn’t play in the second half. Lions’ head coach James Franklin said on Monday that Allar would be a game-time decision.
“That timeline will go all the way up to the game,” Franklin said.
Allar was replaced by sophomore Beau Pribula, who completed 11 of 13 passes and threw for a touchdown, also adding 28 rushing yards on six carries.
When the Buckeyes saw Allar last year, they took home a 20-12 win, holding the quarterback to 18 of 42 passing for 191 yards and one touchdown, many of the yards coming on a final touchdown drive in the fourth quarter.
So far this season, Allar is 117 of 164 throwing the ball for 1,640 yards and 12 touchdowns with four interceptions. Pribula has been efficient in his short time on the field going 18 of 23 for 200 yards, three scores and an interception.
Both quarterbacks provide a running threat if they are on the field, Allar rushing for 129 yards this season on 34 attempts and Pribula earning 133 yards with his legs on 21 attempts.
The Buckeyes are dealing with some injuries as well, with both tight end Will Kacmarek and safety Lathan Ransom sitting out of the close 21-17 win over Nebraska, and left tackle Zen Michalski being carted off the field in the fourth quarter. Their status is still unknown for the Nov. 2 matchup with the Nittany Lions.
