Ohio State and secondary coach Tim Walton continued its successful run of 2025 recruiting on Sunday, securing a commitment from Olney (Md.) Our Lady Good Counsel High School four-star safety Faheem Delane (6-3, 195).
Delane is yet another top-rated 2025 secondary recruit who pledged to the Buckeyes during this cycle, coming in as the nation’s 34th-best overall prospect and second-best safety. He joins five-star cornerbacks Devin Sanchez (6-2, 170) of Houston North Shore and Na’eem Offord (6-1, 185) of Birmingham (Ala.) Parker, who are the No 1 and No. 2 ranked cornerbacks in the 2025 class, respectively.
He is also the third safety commit for Ohio State in 2025, joining Wayne (N.J). Depaul Catholic four-star DeShawn Stewart (6-2, 185) and Cleveland St. Ignatius four-star Cody Haddad (6-1, 175).
Delane was a highly touted prospect in this cycle, holding offers from numerous Power Five programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Georgia, Miami, Michigan and Oregon, among many others. He reportedly chose the Buckeyes over Oregon, who was the top competition for Delane during his recruitment.
Delane built a strong relationship with Walton and new safeties coach Matt Guerrieri these past few months, all culminating in a final visit this Friday, where the two sides hatched out the four-star’s role and fit with the program.
All of this led to Delane becoming the 14th 2025 commitment for Ohio State, a class that is still not close to being finalized for both the program and Walton. The Buckeyes, led by Walton, are still targeting the top safety in the class, Cleveland Shaker Heights five-star Trey McNutt (6-0, 180), making for an even more formidable class if the Ohioan signs in the coming months.
