Ohio State suffered a key loss to its 2025 recruiting class on Thursday afternoon when Baltimore (Md.) four-star cornerback Blake Woodby (5-11, 175) reportedly decommitted from Ohio State. The news was first reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Woodby is the nation’s 66th-best prospect, seventh-best cornerback and second-best player from Maryland, and had been committed to Ohio State since October, when he signed with the Buckeyes over teams such as Alabama, Clemson and Tennessee.
He was a part of a loaded 2025 cornerback recruiting class for Ohio State, one which also included Houston (Texas) North Shore five-star Devin Sanchez (6-2, 170) and Birmingham (Ala.) five-star Na’Eem Offord (6-1, 185), who are both still committed to the Buckeyes. But with Ohio State set at cornerback for the foreseeable future, and the team also pursuing Conroe (Texas) five-star cornerback Dorian Brew (6-2, 185) during this cycle, Woodby has decided to reopen his recruitment.
Woodby’s commitment leaves Ohio State with two cornerback pledges in the 2025 recruiting class — the previously mentioned Sanchez and Offord — and 12 overall commitments, a group that includes one other five-star in Bellefontaine, Ohio, quarterback Tavien St. Clair (6-4, 225) along with six four-stars and a trio of three-stars.
