Recruiting Outlook: Tyler Bowen Offers Three Offensive Linemen, More Visits Locked In

While the Buckeyes new offensive line coach Tyler Bowen has been trying to build relationships with recruits who are already considering Ohio State, he is also trying to establish his own with new scholarship offers as well.

He offered Fruitland, Idaho, four-star offensive tackle Kelvin Obot (6-5, 265); Chicago Mount Carmel four-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma (6-7,308) and Windsor, Colo., four-star interior offensive lineman Deacon Schmitt (6-5, 320).

Obot is the No. 140 player in the class and the No. 13 offensive tackle and has 22 Division I offers, including some from Auburn, Boise State, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oregon, Purdue, USC, Washington and Wisconsin.

Mpouma, the No. 209 player in the country and the No. 18 offensive tackle, has received 30 offers, including some from Auburn, Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn State, Purdue, USC and Wisconsin, among many others.

Schmitt is the No. 400 player in the country and the No. 32 interior lineman and has received 25 offers, including some from Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Nebraska, Georgia, Michigan State, Northwestern, Purdue, USC, Washington and Wisconsin.

The Buckeyes are also starting to get a schedule of visitors for spring ball, most recently with Celina, Texas, four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley (6-2, 200) revealing to 247Sports that he will be on campus on March 19.

The Buckeyes are still in search of a 2026 quarterback, which is late in the process for that position since many top quarterbacks commit earlier in the process. But the Buckeyes are still involved with Bentley, Newbury Park, Calif., four-star Brady Smigiel (6-5, 205), and a few others.

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei five-star wide receiver and Buckeye commit Chris Henry Jr. (6-5, 205) said he will make an official visit to Ohio State over the summer, as expected, scheduling a visit for the weekend of June 20-22, but he will also visit Miami, Oregon and USC.

He has said multiple times that he remains committed to the Buckeyes and just wants to enjoy the recruiting process, so there likely isn’t too much to worry about for offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Brian Hartline in terms of the No. 7 player in the country going anywhere else.
