Ryan Day Says Ohio State Will Likely Play A Normal Spring Game On April 12

After some uncertainty about what Ohio State’s “Spring Showcase” would entail on April 12, head coach Ryan Day confirmed at his press conference on Monday that the showcase would still most likely be a traditional spring game.

Day said that he wanted to leave some “wiggle room” in case the team is dealing with injuries at the time of the last spring practice of the year, but he has repeatedly stressed the importance of getting some in-game reps, especially since the Buckeyes will have so many new starters this year.

Multiple other teams around the country, Nebraska and Texas being two examples, have decided not to have spring games because of the concern that other schools would use that as an opportunity to scout and poach players during the spring transfer portal.

Day, however, sees it as more of an opportunity to get his players ready for the fall so that some of the players who haven’t seen a lot of game action can get their feet wet and learn what it feels like to play in the Horseshoe in front of fans.
