Seth McLaughlin Named Finalist For Rimington Trophy
Graduate center Seth McLaughlin continued to be recognized for his outstanding 2024 season on Monday when he was named one of three finalists for the Rimington Trophy, given to the nation’s best center.
Although he missed the Buckeyes’ final two games with a torn Achilles injury and will be out for the remainder of the season, McLaughlin was a key part of the Buckeyes’ O-Line improvements in 2024.
In 12 games this season, Ohio State only allowed 13 sacks as a team, which ranked in a tie for 16th in the country.
Joining Seth McLaughlin as Rimington Trophy finalists was Tennessee center Cooper Mays, who the Buckeyes will get a good look at when they take on the Volunteers during the first round of the College Football Playoffs on Dec. 21, and Western Michigan center Jacob Gideon.
McLaughlin dealt with some snap issues as a starter at Alabama during the 2023 season before he transferred from the Crimson Tide, but he patched that up with the Buckeyes and was already named to the All-Big Ten First Team.
McLaughlin will find out if he’s the winner of the Rimington Trophy on Thursday at 9 p.m. during ESPN’s Home Depot College Football Awards show.
