Ohio State’s loss against Michigan may have dampened quarterback C.J. Stroud’s chances of winning the Heisman Trophy, but Wednesday he did pick up a big piece of hardware, being named the Graham-George Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.
In a 12-game regular season, Stroud connected on 66.2 percent of his passes for 3,340 yards and 37 touchdowns against just six interceptions. The Buckeyes finished 11-1, their lone loss against No. 2 Michigan, under his leadership.
Stroud also took home the Griese-Brees Quarterback of the Year from the conference.
His top target, second-year wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., won the Richter-Howard Big Ten Receiver of the Year. Harrison led OSU in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns, with his 12 scores tied for first in the Big Ten and tied for third in all of college football. His 1,157 yards placed him second in the conference and eighth in the nation.
At the national level, Stroud is a finalist for the Maxwell Award, given to the country’s top college football player, and the Davey O’Brien Award, given to its top quarterback. Harrison is one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, given to college football’s best pass catcher.
