USC Kicker Parker Lewis Transferring To Ohio State
Former USC kicker Parker Lewis announced Friday that he will be transferring to Ohio State.
The former three-star prospect and No. 7 kicker in the the 2020 class out of Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., entered the transfer portal in December after two seasons with the Trojans with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Since entering the portal, Lewis made visits to Miami (Fla.) and Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ spring game.
Lewis started at placekicker the past two seasons for USC, going 26-of-35 (74.3 percent) on his field goal attempts and connected on all but one of his 24 extra point attempts. He also handled kickoff duties for the Trojans, getting touchbacks on 22 of his 38 kickoffs, and could be in line to do so at Ohio State.
Ohio State already has a starting kicker in graduate Noah Ruggles, who was 20-of-21 on field goals and made all 74 extra point attempts last season, but he is taking the spring semester off, according to an Ohio State spokesperson.
“He’s not with us right now, but he’ll be joining us this summer,” Day said earlier this spring.
Lewis’ commitment brings Ohio State back up to 85 scholarships accounted for following a series of transfers in recent weeks that dropped the Buckeyes below the NCAA’s 85-man limit. He and Ruggles, along with sophomore Jake Seibert, gives Ohio State three kickers on scholarship heading into next season.
