Will Howard Accepts Senior Bowl Invite
Fifth-year quarterback Will Howard did not end his regular season the way he wanted to in a 13-10 loss to Michigan on Saturday, but for the season as a whole he certainly did enough to impress Senior Bowl scouts.
Howard reciprocated the interest from the Senior Bowl, as he accepted an invite to play in the All-Star event on Dec. 3. At the Senior Bowl game played on Feb. 1, Howard will attempt to improve his draft stock against some of the best seniors from the 2024 season.
Howard earned his spot in the Senior Bowl with a solid year as Ohio State’s signal caller. In 12 games as the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback, the Downington, Pa. native threw for 2,860 passing yards and 27 touchdowns to 8 interceptions. Howard was as advertised as a runner, tacking on 131 yards on the ground on 72 carries for 7 touchdowns.
Howard really struggled in the Buckeyes’ loss to Michigan, though, his 57.6 completion percentage was a season low, as were the 175 yards he threw for. Howard also threw two costly interceptions in the game, one of which occurred deep in Ohio State’s own territory and the other while the Buckeyes had the ball in the red zone.
Still, the Buckeyes’ regular season results were almost certainly good enough for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Sitting at No. 6 currently in the CFP rankings, Howard will try to end his collegiate career on a high note with a playoff run that is likely to start with a home game in Columbus for the first round of the Playoffs.
Howard will be joined on the Senior Bowl roster by Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough and Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard, and his center Seth McLaughlin. McLaughlin will not play in the Senior Bowl game after he suffered a season-ending torn Achilles injury in practice ahead of the Indiana game in late November.
