Ohio State will have its top slugger back in the lineup next season.
First baseman Dane Harvey announced on X on Monday that he is returning to the Buckeyes for his junior season in 2027 after emerging as one of the Big Ten’s top power hitters in 2026.
Harvey is coming off a strong sophomore campaign when he earned Second-Team All-Big Ten honors after leading Ohio State with a .328 batting average, 19 home runs, 57 RBIs and a .729 slugging percentage. His 19 homers tied the Buckeyes’ single-season home run record held by Dan Seimetz and Zach Dezenzo. He also totaled 58 hits and 14 doubles.
Prior to Ohio State, the 6-5, 270-pound first baseman spent two seasons at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kan., where he had a promising start to his college career. Harvey finished with a .352 batting average to go along with 13 home runs and 58 RBIs in his freshman year, but redshirted the 2025 season after tearing his ACL in December of 2024.
Harvey has spent his summer playing in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Brewster Whitecaps. He has helped lead Brewster to a 15-7-2 record, while hitting .207 with 12 hits, three home runs and a team-leading 13 RBIs.
