Senior cornerback Cam Calhoun has shed his black stripe, Ohio State announced following its Thursday practice.
A former four-star recruit in the class of 2023, Calhoun began his career at Michigan in 2023 before transferring to Utah for his sophomore campaign in 2024.
Calhoun then transferred for a third time in as many years, landing at Alabama, where he racked up seven tackles, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery across 177 snaps in 14 games of action.
Buckeye safety Simeon Caldwell became the sixth player to have his black stripe removed during the fall on Wednesday, while Calhoun was the seventh. Running backs Ja’Kobi Jackson and Stanley Jackson Jr., cornerback Jay Timmons, quarterback Luke Fahey and defensive end Khary Wilder also shed their black stripes this fall.
Calhoun faces a steep path to playing time in a stacked Buckeye second secondary. Outside cornerbacks Jermaine Mathews Jr. and Devin Sanchez return to anchor the perimeter, while Florida State transfer Earl Little Jr. is positioned to step in at nickelback.
For now, Calhoun is expected to serve as a depth piece alongside fellow contenders Georgia transfer Dominick Kelly and freshman Jay Timmons.
