Ohio State will officially be playing a top-five matchup on Sept. 12 when it heads to Austin to take on the No. 4 Longhorns, who jumped one spot in the latest AP poll that was released on Tuesday.

It will be the second straight season in which the two teams face off against one another while inside the top five after they were No. 1 (Texas) and No. 3 (OSU) for the opener of 2025.

Following Ohio State in the poll are No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 5 Indiana after each manages big wins over the weekend.

Oregon dropped from No. 2 down to No. 6 after struggling with Boise State in its season opener, winning by just seven points at home.

Rounding out the top 10 are No. 7 Miami (Fla.), No. 8 LSU, No. 9 Ole Miss and No. 10 Texas A&M.

Other Big Ten teams to be included in the top 25 are No. 14 USC, No. 16 Penn State, No. 19 Washington and No. 21 Iowa, giving the conference a total of seven teams in the rankings.

Michigan, which needed an extra second added on to regulation to complete a Hail Mary pass to beat the MAC’s Western Michigan, dropped out of the top 25 after being ranked as the No. 16 team in the preseason rankings. The Wolverines received 69 points in the voting while the Broncos received 12.
